Tepotinib is a film-coated tablet containing 225 mg of the active ingredient tepotinib. Tepotinib is a prescription drug and must be used under medical supervision. The tablets are white to pale pink, oval-shaped, with "M" embossed on one side. Each carton contains 60 tablets in multilayer composite foil blisters. In addition to the active substance, the tablet core contains mannitol, colloidal silicon dioxide, crospovidone, magnesium stearate, and microcrystalline cellulose; the coating contains hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, polyethylene glycol, triacetin, and colorants (red iron oxide and titanium dioxide). Special attention should be paid to the fact that each tablet contains 4.4 mg of lactose; patients with sugar intolerance should consult their doctor in advance.
Tepotinib belongs to the class of "protein kinase inhibitors." Cancer cells often produce abnormal proteins due to alterations in the MET gene, which drive uncontrolled cell proliferation, leading to tumor formation and metastasis. Tepotinib precisely blocks the activity of this abnormal protein, thereby inhibiting cancer cell growth signals, slowing or stopping tumor progression, and in some cases, shrinking tumor size. This targeted action differs from traditional chemotherapy and is specifically intended for patients with non-small cell lung cancer harboring MET gene alterations.
This product is indicated for adult patients with non-small cell lung cancer that has metastasized and is not amenable to surgical resection. Prior to use, the presence of MET gene alterations in cancer cells must be confirmed by testing, and patients should have received prior therapy that failed to adequately control the disease. This product has not been studied in individuals under 18 years of age and is not recommended for children and adolescents. For eligible adult patients, tepotinib offers a new treatment option that can intervene against the underlying cause of the disease.
